Distichiasis and trichiasis in cats

Less common is excessive (trichiasis) or unusually placed (distichiasis) eyelashes, as shown in the diagram below. These conditions are difficult to diagnoses (usually requiring operating microscopes) but are relatively easy to correct surgically. Symptoms include watering eye(s), recurring conjunctivitis, soreness and eyelid swelling.
